Young Artist Rajesh Chandra from Rishikesh is back again with his mural painting series focusing on the culture of Uttarakhand. Especially the Char Dham yatra and between all of them the daily life of Garhwal like Ghaseyri, Pathaar wale Makaan, Okhli peesti auraten etc.
He is working on the walls of Evergreen Public School in Garhi Shyampur Rishikesh. This school is the first school to feature the Uttarakhand tradition on its boundary walls. Students from day one are amazed to witness the huge artistic cultural travelogue about 42m in length.
One can feel every scene painted from the heart as it is painted in a manner that the viewer has enough space for him to sit between the figures of paintings and create beautiful storytelling photography these paintings more appears to be the scene of a story like the dream of every child. This new way has been added by the artist to create a more close bond between the viewers and the paintings.
“The inspiration for these works is some of his village photography of his village Bandasa near Kirtinagar from where he captured the shots and transformed them into paintings. it’s the best thing an artist can do. He stated that he loves his culture he loves to paint the culture of Uttarakhand and he thinks that these kinds of wall paintings must be done everywhere especially in schools so the student knows their culture from roots. As culture is not a thing to be forgotten but it’s a heritage it’s a legacy to be given to coming generations.
He also said that the best thing by which we can create a bond between culture and coming generation is paintings as “जैसे एक बच्चा आया और कहा ये भोटिया कुत्ता हमारे गाँव मे होता है “. They love it they relate it to their lives and hence become more close to the daily life of Garhwal.”
He also added that he is thankful to his friend Sagar Rajbhar for helping him a lot in painting this series.
The elderly persons of locality admire especially the paintings of religious Char Dham themes on which one Grandma stated that I had only visited Badrinath but you have shown me all Dhams i.e Gangotri, Yamunotri and remaining.
The school administration is very happy and these kinds of wall paintings must be done in every educational institution. These are not only the paintings of cultural heritage but are also educative for which they are thankful to Rajesh.
